No one wants to look tired or angry all of the time, but that’s the effect that frown lines can have on your appearance. Frown lines (glabellar lines) are the vertical lines between your eyebrows caused by squinting, concentrating or frowning that can become more deep and permanent as you age.
BOTOX is a quick, non-surgical procedure that can soften your frown lines for up to four months. Colorado Ophthalmology Associates is proud to offer this procedure in our Denver and Lakewood locations by Dr. Kelmenson, Dr. Patterson and Dr. Keyser.
How BOTOX Works
BOTOX is a purified protein (Botulinum Toxin) that is injected into the facial muscles, causing them to relax. Only a small dosage of BOTOX can have dramatic effects on frown lines or other areas of the face. The skin appears smoother within 1-2 days for most patients and continues to improve over the next several weeks.
Side Effects of BOTOX
While the actual injections of BOTOX typically only produce minimal discomfort, some patients do experience slight after-effects in the injected area, such as tenderness, swelling, redness, bleeding, bruising or infection. It is possible to have an allergic reaction to BOTOX, so it is important to inform your doctor about any medical condition you have prior to treatment.
The great news is that there is usually no downtime with BOTOX injections. Because no anesthesia is required, most patients can return to their daily routine after the injections.
